A key driver is increasing consumer demand for convenience.
Allconnect was officially founded in June 1998 as a division of Intelligent Consumer Holdings, LLC (ICH), a holding company founded and controlled by Lee Pritchard. Business development efforts with key utility and communications service providers began at that time. Simultaneous to the business development efforts, the Company developed its first generation software application and operational processes. In November 1998, Allconnect began its pilot program in Atlanta, Georgia via an outsourced call center. For the first six months, the Company acquired customers exclusively through Promove, a large apartment locator company owned by ICH. In the spring of 1999, Allconnect expanded its customer acquisition channels to include realtors and apartment management companies. By February 2001, Allconnect had established a direct transfer program with Carolina Power and Light. The utility transferred movers to Allconnect after the request for new power service was complete. While competitors faltered by attempting to execute a national web-based connection model, Allconnect focused on driving customer volume in Atlanta through these direct transfer partnerships, and serving those customers via a call center. Since that time the company has launched 26 additional direct transfer programs with electric utilities, covering approximately 28% of all moving households in the US. The model affords consumer choice and convenience, which has resulted in favorable economic trends, as well as a warm reception by both consumers and key partners.
