A new kind of environmental movement.


Through a grassroots campaign, TerraPass is building a community of members who want to do something about climate change. That means letting people know that they can use the site to calculate their personal carbon impact, providing advice on what they can do to reduce it through conservation, and helping them offset what isn't practical to reduce. As scientific evidence of global warming becomes overwhelming, people are becoming aware of the dangers of carbon emissions and the concept of going "carbon neutral" is an increasingly attractive one.

TerraPass launched their website in October 2004 as a way to help everyday people reduce the climate impact of their driving. TerraPass now helps individuals easily and affordably balance the environmental impact of their flying, automobile, and home energy use by purchasing carbon offsets. In essence, when TerraPass members buy offsets, they are paying project developers to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, or to produce renewable electricity that displaces fossil fuel-based electricity from the national electrical system.
