Nora Woodruff
Nora is passionate about understanding the products and technologies that shape how we live. She works as Dan Levitan’s Chief of Staff and as a member of the investment team at Maveron, where she hopes to empower small teams with big plans to shape our future (and she can’t believe she gets to do that for a living!).
When Nora was younger, she helped her sister demo chickpea pasta in grocery stores. Watching that company, Banza, take off sparked a deep curiosity in emerging consumer trends and in anticipating innovative startups that stick. During her undergraduate years at Brown University, she covered consumer retail investing for the student-run Socially Responsible Investment Fund, where her interest in the intersection of investing and consumer behavior deepened.
After graduation, Nora spent two years in investment banking at Morgan Stanley and most recently was an Associate at Clayton Dubilier & Rice (“CD&R”), investing out of a $26bn private equity fund. These experiences taught her to evaluate businesses quickly, solve complex problems, and support portfolio companies, and left her with a desire to work on a small team partnering closely with founders. She is also involved with an angel investing group focused on emerging consumer brands and enjoys meeting new people in the space.
Nora grew up in Rye, New York, graduated from Brown University, and is now based in New York City. Outside of work, you can find her painting or drawing, satisfying her sweet tooth, doing contrast therapy (yes, sauna + cold plunge), or, if it’s summer, spending time on a lake in upstate New York.
